Its aluminium so its not critical but there are some touch up pens you can get ive used them on my beretta.

It is one of the drawbacks of physics, aluminum is light and easy to machine, aluminum oxide is hard but thin, so as a base material to build scopes, Swarovski used it to build some nice ones. The down side is that unless rings are perfectly aligned they will leave marks on a Swarovski tube and any bump or bruise that penetrates the anodized skin will leave a mark. It is just one of the downsides to a light scope. You can use steel to gain strength, but then add weight and potential for oxidation, rust. You can use Titanium, it is light and very durable but very difficult to machine, the net result is that costs are intolerably high. All things considered I think Swarovski made a wise trade off.

I'm not criticising the scope, I think it's an excellent piece of optical equipment and the best I've personally used. I just thought it strange that they don't have a service to fix up small cosmetic blemishes while getting a primary upgrade/service to a scope.

I suspect the reason they don't offer that service is that they know any touch up will have a short service life. The only way to do it properly is to again anodize the scope body which would mean disassembling the scope and removing the existing anodized surface back to bare aluminum. It would probably be cheaper to simply start with a new tube. I don't know this for fact but suspect this is their logic, and that they would rather do nothing than something substandard.

Probably true Bob, I'll just have to try the touch up pens like Chuck suggested.

I Just saw this on Euro optics, can anyone clarify it.
Is Swarovski going to stop producing the Z6 ?

They did streamline the number of Z6 SKUs when the z8 was introduced. For instance, the 1-6 BRT they discontinued, but kept the 1-6 BRT-I.

Kahles is also replacing their different scopelines (3 and 5) with only one line of scopes

Are they keeping the Z3 and Z5 scopes?

There's getting to be less and less high quality 1" tube scopes these days.
I'm soft and I don't care.

The Z3 and Z5s are by far their best selling scopes here in the USA so I can’t imagine Swaro dropping them anytime soon. Demand is still outpacing supply on them by a fair margin. Dealers are waiting 6-8 months for orders.
