Eye relief: S&B Zenith vs Swarovski etc
Hastily assembled a 2,5-10x Zenith in a Blaser mount and when packing away noticed that the ocular is about 1 inch fwd of where my 2,5-10x PH sits
According to spec sheets both have the nominal eye relief of 90mm.
Given I assembled it in the gun room and it’s not exactly easy to find something to focus on 50m+ away in there I’m expecting I’ll have to make a few adjustments at the range. However 1 inch seems a hell of a difference
Anyone else noticed differences in eye relief between these brands?

How do the overall lengths and the lengths between the turrets of the two scopes compare?

The Zenith is a much more compact unit overall - I’ll take a pic this evening

Keep in mind eye relief is measured from the lens, not the ocular housing.
Some manufacturers have a deeper set lens, like Zeiss on some models which I believe is a better design on a hunting scope.
However this variation is not even close to an inch.
You really need to check it outside the house with a relaxed eye that is not tired.
Is the ocular focus dial in exactly the same position?
Watching with interest. I really want to hear how you get on.
Scope setup is critical and often overlooked.

Just a bit of difference in relative eye relief despite all claiming 90mm in their brochures

Re: Eye relief: S&B Zenith vs Swarovski etc
Scope eye relief is the distance from the ocular lens to the user's eye, within which the user's eye can see the full field of view of the lens. If a user's eye is outside this distance, a reduced field of view will result. Different overall length scopes can have the same eye relief. Shorter scopes with reduced mounting areas may make it difficult to set scope back far enough to obtain the distance to the user's eye.

8x57is, eventually
Put it on the .375H&H for testing. The reticle is a bit thin for my taste for deer work but for feral guinea pigs with the 8mm it should be good for headshots so as not to spoil the meat
