Another New Z8i post

Post by Sigsako »

After about two years of deliberation, pricing, looking at and contemplating what to buy, the purchase has been made.

Picked up my new Z8i 2-16x50 scope today
I got a railed version with the A4-I reticle, and a BTF.
Just need to get the rail mount sorted and she will find her new home on the .223 barrel.

What a scope
So bright and clear. Bloody awesome. :D

They're damn expensive toys but you wont regret it. amazing how clear they are, even in dim light :handgestures-thumbup: I was going to remind you to locktite the screws on your rail mount but for the 223 that shouldn't be necessary, just torque 'em down to whatever Blaser recommends and they shouldn't shake loose. Hope you enjoy it in the bush!

Excellent magnification range. Much underrated by the Hubble fans.

Being an owner of a Hubble Kahles 624i, I'm hearing you!!!
The Z8i is not a small scope by any means, but its not far from perfect in my now much poorer opinion. $$$$$$$$

I have the next lower maginification version 1.7-13.6 X 42 and love it. I'm sure you will find this to be one of best scopes you can get and the turret system fixes all the problems of previous Swarovski BT offerings which I think was their weakest point. It tracks true and repeatable even under heavy use and as you can see offers a best quality image.

Great choice, even better that you selected the rail mount. I bought one for my recent Africa trip and it did a very nice job. While it's not a small scope it's far from being a huge scope. IMO it matches up really well with the Blaser R8 or R93. Very pleased with it and thinking of upgrading one of my Z6i 5-30x50 models to their new 3.5-28x50. Hard to believe that they keep extending the boundaries of what optics can do. Has to be frustrating working for the other 'premium' scope manufacturers.

I'd be interested too Bob.

I have the BT turret on my Z5, the principle idea is great and was a good development for that type of custom turret arrangement, and I reckon better than other offers.
The biggest drawback, and what I would expect as the most common grudge with that system, would be the lack of adjustability in the 3/4 turn limit.
It was something I noticed when getting the DOPE on my 223 and I soon realized it certainly was not suitable for sending rounds way out there, unless you have a canted rail etc.

The Z8 BTF is definitely a step up, with the additional marking dials and more scope adjustability.

Agreed - 100%.
Makes mounting so much easier. :D

It does mean though that it is now married to the Blaser. Which is not a bad thing.
