Aus rail scope options

Post by JD3006 »

Hi all,

As I wait to take delivery of my R8 I’m now looking at the scope options.

Looking at websites here in Aus it’s hard to find the price for a scope with the Blaser rail option.

Anybody have any good sources or options they use I should look at.

Also has anybody in Aus used https://www.optics-trade.eu/au/

Prices seem to be good and they offer Aus $ prices and shipping.

Cheers

Have made plenty of purchases from both optics trade and magnum sports. Both great to deal with.

With the shipping did you choose the one with customs fees included or just go with the standard one?

Without…but I have only bought mounts through them so amount was under $1K AUD. from memory the choice to include customs fees with shipping is through UPS. I have had stuff go missing with them for a few weeks. So I’m a bit shy to use them again.

I orded my Swarovski Z8I through safari, prices are pretty much fixed, by the time you order it from optics trade add shipping, gst and import duty worked out the same or cheaper here

So with not being able to find anything on any website of Aus based firearms dealers and without spending a whole working day calling each one I’m after some help.

Have any of you seen any rail based scope in your local stores?

My dealer only has the Blaser scope in at $4670 which after dropping 6k on the gun is a little out of budget.

If I go with ring mounts.. what hight mounts will fit what objective I think the mount heights are 15.5 and 18..

Thanks for all the help..

Nothing around here, very much a special order item, I think there was a Z6i or Z8i low power like 1-6 that was coming into stock with Swarovski a while back but it may be gone, then it will depend if OSA has the rail mounts in stock

Just order one through Magnum, it will be here before you know it.

It’s only June. 2 months. Be patient.
Don’t worry it will be worth it when it gets here.

Was talking to the Swaro rep yesterday, they only receive what Swarovski send them regardless what's ordered and they don't know what is being shipped until it's in transit to Australia. Covid is having a big impact on everyone at the moment and demand is far outstripping supply.

I know it sucks, but you just have to be patient. :handgestures-thumbup:
