B97 Details

Post by Vol423 »

Do the Shotgun barrels in combo rifle shotguns have screw chokes? The website says they have integral full choke and a spare 1/2 choke. That makes little sense. On double rifle barrels, do they have extractors or ejectors? How about double Shotgun barrels?

My double rifle had extractors. Who would would want ejectors? Never seen one with removable chokes.

Can't say I've ever seen a double rifle with chokes........

But as vol has suggested, the website information is contradictory.

There used to be a BBF model with interchangeable chokes. "Special Edition" or something like that.

The other BBFs have a fixed modified choke, which suits me fine, given the intended purpose of the BBF.

Extractors, not ejectors, on the various barrel sets available for this model.

Thanks. I thought that would be the case in both circumstances.

How well do the guns extract with rimless cases like 6.5X55? On breakdown guns I always like rimmed cases, but I have a good offer on one with 12 over 6.5X55.

Disclaimer: I have a BBF 95, the BBF 97 may be different...

The "Special Shot" has removable chokes and comes with two chokes (or at least mine did). The point seems not so much to be to provide a full range of chokes but to support swapping between lead and steel shot loads.

Both barrels on the BBF are extractors.

As for the name, Special Shot refers to the regulation of the shotgun and rifle barrel. From the Blaser website: "All Blaser shotgun rifles of the “Special Shot” edition are supplied with a fitted rifle scope: ZEISS Victory HT M 3-1x56 L-abs. 60 or Swarovski Z6i 2-12x50 SR L-abs. 4A-I. The shotgun barrels are adjusted at the factory so that the visible aiming point at 35 m is exactly the centre of the shot cone. This means that even at maximum shotgun range, excellent shot coverage and thereby the best possible effect is achieved."

Bahhh. I can regulate the shot and rifle in one hour with an allen key. Don't need the factory for that.

I bought a B97 today with left hand wood in 12/7X65R. Actually I bought the action and wood and the barrel set was ordered. 4-8 month’s delivery.

I have a Krieghoff 22 mag insert for a 12GA and Im thinking of getting a 7X65R insert for the Shotgun barrel. I can order from Zimmerman but I need to find someone who can import it with their imports from Germany.
