Visit to Holland and Holland in London

Post by 6.5x55 »

Visited the Holland and Holland showroom in London recently and enjoyed seeing the bolt action and doubles on display. The 600NE double certainly was a standout along with its pricetag!! Ouch!!

The craftsmanship on the 600NE double was fantastic

The pricetag that goes along with it ...

Great place to visit, not so great of a place to leave your fortunes. I once owned a .375 over under Holland and Holland. I sold it in 1978 for $12,000, I can't, don't want to imagine what that rifle would sell for today. It was beautiful rifle highly engraved and high grade wood, it was well balanced and fit me well. But there were other things I wanted to pursue at the time.

Great thanks for sharing. I only saw it when it was closed with the wife a few years back. In retrospect probably saved me a lot.

I was today out at their Shooting Grounds on the outskirts of greater London. Sharpening up before my first driven pheasant and partridge shoot of the season. A whole range of clay towers, and great instructors. Plus an open air rifle range and now an indoor video range where you can live fire (simulated driven boar, dangerous game, tactical ops etc). They also have shotguns and rifles for sale at eye watering prices. On the ranges you can bring your own or use one of their guns - But before you get too excited that usually doesn’t include one with H&H stamped on it. For the indoor range they do have some Blasers. Great facility but at luxury brand prices. Try and visit next time or next week if you are still around.

Very nice .600NE, you think they’d throw in a case at that price though

The choice of sights 50 standing, 100 folding makes me curious to the 600s trajectory

Edit to add:

2 inches difference in 50y!
Ballistic Coefficient: 0.371
Bullet Weight: 900 gr
Initial Velocity: 1950 fps
Sight Height : 0.5 in

Thankyou so much for sharing these photos, it certainly is nice to see how the other half live.

Check out the Ferlach Johann Fanzoi 98 Mauser below,
450 000 euro, they are real diamonds around the floor plate.
It would make great ute gun for pushing through thick scrub...

I reckon I'll have to visit there if I ever get back to London. Just for a look though.

It certainly was an experience. Also checked out James Purdey & Son, William & Son, as well as Beretta. Certainly have lovely rifles and shotguns on display. Great way to spend a few hours around Mayfair that's for sure.

Unfortunately not. They are located south of London and didn't have the time to make it down there. The others were all within walking distance in Mayfair.
