My 8x57IRS K95 has a 1/2 rubber pad on it.

I find full noise 200gr NP's to be perfectly fine off bench. If I didn't have a supply of 250gr Woody's for the 8mm I'd have no problem with the concept of running a 9.3x74.

I bought a 7x65R tube last year to extend the useful distance of the 95 using mono's. I'll run up some sleek 175gr (conventional) loads out just because......it'll be interesting to see what 25gs less bullet weight but an extra 5gr(ish) of powder does to felt recoil.

I have owned a K95 with the straight stock and the euro or slight hogs back version. For me the straight stock version reduced the recoil in all calibers especially the 30-06 and 9.3x74R. I foolishly sold the straight stock and larger calibers, I kept the hog’s back in .308. I also shoot a Sabatti SKL 98 single shot in .30R Blaser. It gets your attention shooting off the bench with 180 grain factory ammo but it is manageable. I will start hand loading for this once my factory ammo is exhausted.

I reduced the load, and at 2800 with the same projectile all is fine.

Because of aesthetics my K95 has only a .6" decelerator, which is noticeably harder than .8" or a 1".

There is a reason why the 30R in K95 is reportedly not popular in Europe
Man! Is that true? You're getting 2900fps from a 175gn bullet with 24" barrel?

I was not sure I could get 2800 fps with a 160 grain in a 22" barrel (waiting for either a second hand K95 or a K5 in 7x65R, whichever pops out first)

Can I ask you load (and COAL)?

Thanks!

Ouch and bad luck on the missed shot but at least you were out there to take it 👍🏼 Can't say I would ever have thought of a K95 in a 300 Weatherby mag but if it took that sort of scenario before it whacked you it can't be as bad as I imagined.

Check out the Load Database for 7x64 and 7x65R. Questions are answered there. :handgestures-thumbup:

Thanks!

Ouch! That might hurt...

Do you have a brake on that 300WbyMag barrel?

I found it. Thanks! I hope I can get 140gr/3000fps, 150gr/2900fps, 160gr/2800fps, 175gr/2700fps even if I go the Merkel route.

A more puzzling question might be "why didn't you have one on it before?"
