Patterning the Shotgun out to 70 metres.

Post by mchughcb »

I'm going through a learning curve on the best shot/chokes for fox hunting this year.

Surprising myself the No3 32gram loads at 1350 fps was still putting the pellets out to 70m and slamming through the corflute backing.

Not my load of choice by any means, 42gm BB's is my longer range load of choice for foxes.
I won't go for anything under 36gm #2 shot for foxes, Well down to 34gn #4 shot for flushing them out of blackberries at close range.
I'm soft and I don't care.

I think it's time you embraced Bob's suggestion of Hevi Shot. It's available here. :D

Need to keep camera on target after firing. I reckon heavy shot will bump me and its not the same load as bob recommends.
