Home Made lead shot

Post by Corjack »

I see there are three lead shot makers that come up while doing a search. Here is the least expensive. Littleton Shot Maker The price of shot is really high now, this sort of thing may be more practical in the future.

I have a lead shot make that was given to me by and old friend, I have never used it but it's meant to make about 10kg an hour. I have no Idea how to use it but it's just one of them things I will work out one day. What I think you do is melt the lead then it goes through the jets to the size of the shot you want then it hit warm diesel to stop the lead from flatting out. The guy that gave it to me for 30 years made his own shot and it was much harder then the shot you buy from the gun shops.

He would also polish the shot by putting it in the tumble dryer with graphite for about 10 minutes. It was more of a hobby for him, but I would always buy my shot off him as what he has forgotten about shotgunning I would love to know and any tips form him where gold.

I will post some photos next time I'm in the shed.

well from what I was told it's makes 8 or 9 shot in lead. Oh and under the part that holds the lead is a gas burner as well.
