Price on shotgull shells??

Post by Ak »

I was invited to hunt ducks the other day, and since I sold my last shotgun my drilling had to come with me. But thanks to lead being banned from all shotgun cartridges in Norway I had to go to the store to buy some more.... Picked up 50 tungsten 20 gauge 67mm cartridges and went to the cash register. I knew it would be expensive, but scheisse... 200 USD, yes it`s not a typo of some sorts, 200 USD for 50 cartridges. I needed them so I bought them, but will be looking for a Mec or something. So to the question, what do you guys pay for your shotgun ammo? I really miss lead...

We can still buy and use lead in the US for all but migratory waterfoul and some "special" areas which require non toxic shot. Prices vary greatly depending upon the load, but in general we can buy promotional loads for around $20-$25 per hundred, target loads at around $30-$35 per hundred. And, then there are the specialty shells like the 3 1/2" 12 ga HeviShot Magnum Blend Turkey loads I use that cost $30 for five or $600 per hundred. Most non toxic waterfoul loads are also expensive and range from $10-$50 for a box of 25.

For this reason I'm convinced I need a steel proof 12-76 drilling, as the cost of alternatives to steel are too expensive

Over here this is cheap - they are normally $70+ per 25
Calibre/Item: Ammunition
Make: Eley Grand Prix
Model: 12G 32 gm Bismuth No.4
Condition: New
Price:$150
Advertised:4/09/2013
Comment: 3x packets 25 Eley Grand Prix shotshells with 32 gms Bismuth No.4 shot, Image
Whilst Winchester Drylok's are ~$30 per 25

I picked up some of them for my Darne and it was about that price. Its all good because I'd be lucky to shoot one and if I did I'd be eating it on my own

Cheaper to get the Darne reamed out to 1/4 and 1/2 and use steel shot rather than continue to buy bismuth if I was serious. but I"m not.
