Ye Old Quickload Request.

Post by SPEEDY » Thu Jul 18, 2019 2:15 am

Can anyone plug in 64gn a d 64.5gn of Reloader 17 behind the barnes 130gn TTSX in a 270win for my, with a 19" barrel.

And also check IMR 8208 XBR at 42gn and 42.5gn behind the same pill.
I want to work out what powder would give the best results from the short tube.

Oops I buggered up, I meant 54gn and 54.5gn of Reloader 17.

That extra 10gn is a touch hot.

But that 54gn of RE17 might be worth working up to.

I picked up someone sale 130gn Barnes X (original) pills to work up the velocity and pressure with, then swap over to the Barnes TTSX to see how they go, the TTSX should have less pressure then the original thanks to the groves.

It also looks like that 8208 could go much hotter, the ADI list them as Max loads at 62,000psi, but according to QL they are way way lower pressure then that.
I could probably put 44gn-45gn of 8208and be saftly under Max pressure.
