Joe338ST wrote: Wed Mar 25, 2020 6:10 am I bought a Labradar and sold the Magnetospeed after 6 months. Labradar is far better. Magnetospeed would not work with solid copper/ brass bullets for me....
did you switch it on....
   Of course I did Mr Knowall
Solid bullets just do not create the needed magnetic flux generated by spin to trigger the unit to measure the speed.
It failed to give me speed on the 570 grain Lehighs in 458 subsonic controlled fracturing bullets....
Well I didn't know that, so that must make you Mrs knowall.

I've been using a CED M2 for years. Never really liked it and recently decided to upgrade to IR screens. Just had a call from the shop, said they could get the screens but could no longer get the battery pack. I could rig a fix with another 12v batter but figure I should just replace it.

Options would be the two listed. Basically I want one that works without being a hassle to set up. I have suppressors so the Magneto needs to connect onto that. The price differential here is not so big to be the deciding factor. Missing shots out of the string regularly is more of an irritation.

Anyone with experience with these with an opinion, I'd be interested before I spend the dollars

thanks
Here in Denmark the price is double up, for Labradar vs Magnetospeed, so I guess I need to go to Sweden
depends which model of magnetospeed you buy. The sporter (I think it is called) is half the price... or it could just mean that everything costs so much more in Sweden than in Denmark that we don't notice the small differences....
I think you have too much money, that never happen to me

Well if you're "Mr." and Joe is "Mrs" there would appear to be something very unsavoury going on with you two.

Covid 19 might not be the only thing to be concerned about at Joe's workplace

The Magnetospeed is a simple and affective Chrono. It works well on modern precision rifles. Because they all tend to shoot the same general class of ammo and have the same general shape on the front end. Suppressor or longish match barrel. Sometimes you get POI shift.

Where the Magnetospeed really falls apart is with military weapons, MILSURPS, anything with a huge muzzle device, or the big boomers.

Depending on recoil, bayonet lugs or other weirdness, the MS can start to walk. I recall one frustrating day with and fiend and his Weatherbys. Super pain in the ass.

But the MS wins on giving a true FPS at the muzzle. Instead of say 10 feet in front of the muzzle. Which comes in handy when truing your dope card and data.

I have never used a Labradar, but it's on our to-buy list to get one.

The Labradar also gives muzzle velocity by calculating it back to the muzzle which it does automatically.
