I saw this sambar stag shot late yesterday at 150m broadside cutting across from a dam to a thick gully. Very confident of a hit waited a while then went looking for it. It made it 15m with the bullet protruding on the outer side. The bullet penetrated both lungs and took out both shoulder blades. Blood trail was pretty good for once.

This hog deer was shot 60m broadside and no chance of recovering the bullet but took out several ribs, lungs and heart in the process.

There's no shortage of them. That stag was cut up and is feeding another family.
They keep coming and ending up on dinner plates ;)

Well it was time to get out again. After spending the arvo picking apples and chestnuts I thought I'd go for a bit of a walk with the K95 at dusk. Blow me down, three sambar coming off a ridge making their way to the back fence. You beauty. Sat there for 30 minutes with the wind in my face and when the calf got sideways at 50m gave it a perfect through the lung out the heart shot. Complete penetration, ran 8m crashed dead. Had a massive blood trail not that I needed it.

Easy field dress and now its feeding two families 8-)

Well I got a call that the deer were out and about again. So I got there in the arvo and setup an ambush position because my mate was late. Right on dusk, on cue out comes three deer. Resting off the fence post this wallowing spiker was hit with a text book lung shot at 60m. Running 20m over a drop and out of sight. I waited 30 minutes and then went for a look. Sure enough the 220gr Woodleigh out of the K95 gave a perfect pass through taking out both lungs. When my mate came we cut it up but I let him take the stinky meat home.

There'll be a few more before the year is out. However I am running low on projectiles. Might start giving the 9.3x74R more of a run in the next few months with the Woodleigh 286gr PP, but that will be another thread.
