Re: Hornady's New ELD-X Bullet
Thank you very much! I was planning that but not sure where I should attempt to seat them to start. Would you recommend the 3.655 you have noted above? Thank you again.

Re: Hornady's New ELD-X Bullet
I would start a little shorter since your throat is new and my throat is custom cut. I think 3.6000 will get you well away from the lands. But it if you can and know how, find the point the bullet touches the lands and start with a .025" jump.

Re: Hornady's New ELD-X Bullet
Hi I rang around here in Melbourne and no one has the ELD X in 30 cal ?secondtry wrote:I have two boxes of 308 200gn ELD-X sitting here waiting for a 300WM R93 barrell.
The barrell was ordered in early September, 2015. Waiting, waiting, waiting. Norma cases all prepped and ready to go.
Will be interested to see how they go. BC is nearly identical to the 210 Berger, but I am attracted to the low impact velocity expansion claimed for the ELD-X
Where did you get them ?

The Germans must enjoy having us waiting for so long lol.secondtry wrote:I have two boxes of 308 200gn ELD-X sitting here waiting for a 300WM R93 barrell.

P.S The only consolation is it gives us time to save up for the barrel.

Re: Hornady's New ELD-X Bullet
Yeah I was told 6 months for my 9.3x62 fluted barrel, I'm also thinking of ordering either a fluted 6.5x55 or a 300wm, so I might head down to Mialls one of these days and order it for 2017 along with another R8 stock. That UN treaty crap that Kevin07 signed up to has added at least 2 months to all EU shipments.sav338 wrote:Not wrong, I'm still waiting for Mialls to get the parts for my ATZL

Re: Hornady's New ELD-X Bullet
I got my new 6.5 STW today and its absolutely beautiful. I have loaded up 143 ELD X bullets with Retumbo from low 70s to 77.5 for testing. Hopefully tomorrow I will get lucky. I will try to post some results tomorrow of my preliminary results. Thank you again to Mr Stokes for his input and guidance

Can't wait to see how yours does. I've loved mine, used it all over Alaska, British Columbia, Africa, and the rocky mountains of the west. It has performed flawlessly on game. Mostly I used the 140 grain Nosler Partition but also some of the Berger 140 grain hunting VLD's. The ELD-X should be a good bullet if it shoots well out of your barrel.

Try Elk's Hunting (02) 6021 8494, I read on another forum that they may have some.sav338 wrote:Hi I rang around here in Melbourne and no one has the ELD X in 30 cal ?

Re: Hornady's New ELD-X Bullet
So I got out and shot some loads in .5 increments and shot up to 77 gr with the 143. I started to see some pressure signs but honestly the accuracy started to sign off too. My best groups were 74.0 and 76.0. I am going to load some more 76.0 and continue again tomorrow to finalize this load. Speed was mid 3200's on a brand new barrel to break in so maybe I will see more before its all over. I was fortunate to get 2/3 touching with this load. Will keep you all posted.

Great to hear that you're seeing pretty much the same thing I did. My barrel shot best at 75 grains so very close.

I got mine at O'Reilly's, and think that I just happened to ask very soon after they got them in. That was a while ago, so don't know if any left.

Delays can be at both ends Theo. May not be fair to blame the GermansTheoR8 wrote:The Germans must enjoy having us waiting for so long lol.secondtry wrote:I have two boxes of 308 200gn ELD-X sitting here waiting for a 300WM R93 barrell.

Re: Hornady's New ELD-X Bullet
Well I went out and shot these bullets again but today I was unsuccessful at repeating the results..... The adventure continues. I have noticed however that the tips on the new ELD X will get dinged and deform easier than in the past. Something to note
