Quick load request

Post by SPEEDY »

I've managed to pick up some 220gn pills for the 308win and want to load them up.
Can someone plug in the 220gn pill and around 38gn of Benchmark 8208 and around 37.5gn of AR2206H.

Cheers.

Don't have the new Benchmark listed, but I have AR2206H.
Since you didn't mention what kind of 220grs bullets, I've put Woodleighs.

Cheers, someone on another forum had 8208 on his version, I was going to go 58gn and apparently thats .2 over max but still safe.
I've decided to settle on 47gn of BM8208 that should generate 2280fps and 62K psi in pressure, so safe and inder the 65k max and in line with the ADI max pressure that they list in their loading manual.

That should do what I want, match the 9.3x62 velocity and trajectory.
It will be interesting to see if it kills in the same no frills, no mess manner.

Interesting stuff mate, keep us posted both on how accurate your load is as well as how much recoil you notice over more traditional projectile weights. Would be interesting if you feel much of a difference off the bench.

It should be only 1ft/lb more then my 165gn load, but thats theoretical, the proof comes after you pull the trigger.

ADI shows IMR 8208 XBR to be in the same burn rate as ADI Bench Mark 8208.

Dchamp,

Out of curiousity, can you run the same bullet with Varget / 2208?

Well the rubber hit the road today, I will post some picks and load data after the tramadole kicks in and no longer feel like one of Olsen's sex toys.
But I am very happy so far, 47gn got 2220fps average and 47.5 was really impressive, I am quite sure I can a full 38gn and should get a tad over 2300fps without any pressure signs.
And the load, I fired the 220's and then some 165gn partitions at an officially clocked 2701fos average, and the 220's had the nicer recoil.
It was very much like the 9.3 highland loads, a firm solid push and it was more pleasant then the 165gn's sharper shove.
I think this is a winner.

That doesn't look any better then BM8208, but I'm definitely keen to try AR2206H out next.
I thinknit might give a tad more speed

Let me know how it turns out. Results can easily be different from predictions do to lot variances and old data on powder.

It looks pretty similar in performance, I'm thinking that I chose right with BM8208 to begin with.
I doubt anything is going to give me better performance, but I gave half a tin here so why not try it out.

Thanks for that. They all want to red line just on or before 2300fps it seems.

That has me thinking the 2300fps is the limit, I'm not going to push past that.
But thats only 100-150fps behind the 30/06 using 10gn more powder, so its a fairly efficient little combination.

If I want more velocity then that, well I guess I'd better buy a 30/06 then.
I'm planing on taking a trip to the local range next Wednesday to zero a couple of scopes, I might stick the 6-20x50 leupold Mk IV on and try shoot some proper groups with the 8208 and test out the 2206H while I'm there.
