8x68 Load Data
Hi,
Has anyone had any experience loading for the 8x68 with ADI2209 or H4350 and 200 grain projectiles?
I am thinking of using either the 200 grain Woodleigh PPSN, or Nolser 200 grain Accubonds.
Any practical loading tips or loads?
Nosler lists a starting load of 70 grains and max of 74 grains of H4350/ADI2209 for the 8mm Rem Mag, can I use this data in the 8x68?
Thankyou in advance for any useful tips or data.
Allan

Re: 8x68 Load Data
I have been seating bullets to the Std. length of 3.425"/87mm and have had good luck with it. I haven't messed much with the 200gr bullets but with 180gr bullets figure 68,5gr's +/- a grain. Using IMR4350 & RL17 2900-2950fps VVN550 and RL16 3025fps. 200gr RWS Evo factory I was getting around 2850fps. My 220gr load is with Sierra Game Kings, 68.5gr's of Alliant's 4000MR getting 2750-2775fps. All loads mentioned are with WLRM primers. And the Big Dog 250gr Woodleigh @3.54", GM215M, 67.5gr 4000MR getting around 2550fps.
As far as the 8mm Rem Mag goes I didn't have much luck using the 4350's, but 81.5grs of MRP is very accurate pushing a 200gr TSX at 3060fps
Congratulations on your new 8x68s. I have become a big fan of this caliber. Good Luck!!

Yes it does mate, would be interesting how they shoot out of the barrel. A few more targets below with factory stuff.

That's just the sort of information I needed.
I notice the max load for 2209 and 200 grain projectiles is 69 grains. That is considerably lower to the load of 73 grains Theo posted above.
But from past experience with my 7x64 the Woodleigh data is a bit low.
I will start at 65 and work up from there.
I picked up some RWS cases this afternoon and a box of Nosler 200 grain Accubonds to try.
Blaserbud Reece is trying to source a set of RCBS dies for me from a friend.
Thanks to the help of many here especially Theo it's all coming together quickly.

Re: 8x68 Load Data
I've loaded up Woodleigh 250gr RNSN
AR2209 65.0gr @ 2550fps
I'm working on a load for 220gr Sierra GameKing SP BT with 2209 but haven't completed testing yet.
I also have some Barnes 160gr TTSX that I'm keen to work up a load. Anyone got any load data for them???

Re: 8x68 Load Data
Here you can read my previous experience with the 8x68S (viewtopic.php?t=3561).
Since the end of 2015 I only use 69.6 of RL 17 in combination with RWS cases, CCI250 Mag primers and Barnes 180 TSX bullets.
I develop the recipe after reading the note that dchamp wrote about on Sept. 2014 (viewtopic.php?f=62&t=9923). With it I am getting 3089 ± 5 fps. The precision is extraordinary. My rifle is a Blaser R93.
Thank you dchamp

Re: 8x68 Load Data
I wonder if any of you folks would care to update your load/experience info for the 8x68S?
I finally found a little used R93 bbl in 8x68S and agreed to purchase it this morning. RH bolthead is the only downer but I'll managed... Now I have to wait to see if the police will let me have it.....
My thinking was to use it for longer range roe and red deer but also for moose calves or for general moose hunting on days I didn't feel like carrying the BB97. Although I still have the 9,3x62 which is a better forest round I think. Those smaller deer in mind I had been thinking 160gr TTSX or 180gr Lapua Naturalis (or TSX). If some of you guys are getting near 950-1000m/s with the TSX, that would be plenty.....
Easy to get powders are Viht and Norma (MRP and N550 should work), ReloadSwiss (RS60 maybe) is becoming more common and Hodgdon powders with a bit of effort.
No rush, I'm just starting the fun bit of thinking about options....
