In my M14's/M1A's I used mainly/primarily Winchester brass because it was plentiful, affordable and pretty good quality. Virgin and once fired brass was reserved for competition. twice fired was for practice and retrieved the cases if easy. Next loading was for practice or field use and cases left where they fell.

I saw many other shooters experience head separation on the 5th or 6th loading. I experienced it once in my first year of using an M1A. and never ever took the chance again.
