Shotgun Reloading for the Blaser Combination Guns

Post by mchughcb »

I thought I would make a thread on the trials I'm having with getting shotgun reloading supplies and what I'm doing.

Shotgun reloading in Australia is fast becoming very very restricted. Access to wads, access to shot.

I tried to import from a US supplier who wanted USPS $96 shipping for goods of US$126. When I reduced the order I was told that I had to buy US$100 minimum for international orders :?

So I've wanted to make up my custom TSS loads for 2021 however with the lack of the two main components this is proving neigh on impossible. So repurposing cheap loaded target or hunting rounds with TSS staying within the payload limits.

So these are the substitutes I'm using.

1. Mylar wrap = cut up chip packets (0.27mm) to the size you need = A left over packet of chips $3/packet = 74 wraps.
2. Overshot cards = either get a punch and create them from CD plastic covers or buy 18mm (12 gauge) or 15mm (20 gauge) plastic bingo tokens off ebay from China US$10/300 tokens.
3. TSS from China = US$267/3kg delivered to your door.

Anybody else want to add to this thread feel free.

Testing and hunting of my BBF and BD14 with TSS loads will begin in earnest this year.

I've bought a heap of shotgun components from these fellas, easy to deal with and a great selection. 👍

I got everything from my last order before Christmas, there was a back order so it took two weeks extra but it came and was exactly what I asked for.

Why is particularly shotgun reloading getting so hard and not centrefire reloading?
I mean at least you can get centerfire components, you may not get everything you usually load, but usually something similar is still available.

Because Winchester Australia was the main raw material importer for Shotgun reloading and since they discontinued local productions the raw materials became harder to come by.

Even one local Shotgun cartridge manufacturer Ballantine Ammunition has temporarily shut it's doors because they couldn't source raw materials. :handgestures-thumbup:

This country is going to the dogs.
I still cannot get over the fact that Australia’s largest importer of Blaser R8 barrels (Theo) has even shut its doors...
