.300 win mag with hornady 208gr Amax

Post by trazman »

Hello, I am now developing a new load for my Blaser r93 .300 win mag. This load is gona be used for long range hunting.

I have a small problem. Due to small receiver I can not seat the bullet into the lands, because i want to be able to have more than one round in the magazine.

So my question is, is it better to make it as long as the magazine can hold it or should I seat the bullet deeper in the case?
Is better crimping it or not?

Thanks, Tomaž

Go the 210gr VLD Hunting in the Bergers I've been shooting out to 860 meters on sambar deer. They kill extremely well and very accurate.
Measure it, when it’s on the deck

Hey deerhunter I know they kill well, but it is really hard to get the berger bullets here in europe...

I also find Matrix bullets and their .210 vld has an amazing 0.752 BC... but i would have to order them from canada

I have set 2 up now second one shoots a bit better then mine but I didn't tell the owner that  he cant shoot anyhow so it doesn't matter. Also a mate has gone the same way but using a Terminator T2 brake and his seating is just a bit more out at 60thou but around the same load not a lot in it as hes shoot's better with 79gr AR2217. My brake is a delta tactical direction brake that turns the 300wm into a .22. When doing load development I found that 77gr, 78gr, 79gr all shot very much the same but in mine it was 77gr or AR2217 shot the best. I'm going to play with it a little once the 338Rum is finally here to see if I can get a bit more speed and better accuracy as I have put about 300 rounds down it now and a bit of fine tweaking is needed
