Re: Hello from Michigan, USA
I am a Michigan boy myself and I have a 6.5x55 barrel and a 9.3x62 barrel for my R93, along with a .280 and a 300 win.
I used the 9.3x62 with a 320 grain Woodleigh handload on a nice Alberta black bear and it worked like a charm. Once you start to push heavy bullets to their potential in the 9.3x62 it turns into a giant killer. My 13 year old daughter shot a nice Wyoming antelope at 330 yards using a Sierra 120 grain flat base with the 6.5x55. The recoil is so mild in the 6.5x55 that anyone can shoot it well. One of the things I love most about the Blaser rifles is that every barrel will shoot very small groups with a minimum of experimentation. The first load from my .280 with a 120 Barnes flat base shot a nice cloverleaf and I have used that load to take a dozen or so antelope with great effect. The 180 grain Accubond over 80 grains of H1000 shoots 1/2'' at 3050 fps from the .300 win and really puts the smackdown on deer. I would like to get a .223 barrel and try my hand with some loads for that as well. My son is a lefty and I bought the left hand slide and bolt assembly and he is now enjoying the rifle too.
