Barrelguy - custom barrels for R93 & R8 Blasers

Post by barrelguy » Thu Dec 25, 2014 8:14 pm

Hello,
My name is Elmer Laitala. I'm a retired machine shop owner located in east central Minnesota. My hobby for the past 20 years has been machining and installing custom, match-grade barrels on competition benchrest rifles.

This past year I started making custom match-grade barrels for the R8 and R93 Blaser rifles.

My specialty is providing chamberings that are not otherwise available from Blaser.

If you would like more information on this service, call me at 320-272-4564 (preferable) or email me at Elmer.Light@gmail.com.

Elmer

Welcome, Elmer. Very wise of you to join us :) I've seen nothing but good reports on your barrels. I'll probably have to try one myself one of these days.

Welcome aboard Elmer. Spoke with you right after you put your post on Long Range. Took a little while longer than I thought before we'd be getting some first hand feedback on your barrels. Looks like they're going to be keeping you busy. Once I get sorted through some Blaser barrels that I haven't even shot yet and see what I have or don't have I may well be in touch as well.

Hope you had a good Christmas and hope your New Year is a great one as well!

Make yourself at home. If there is anything I can help you with don't hesitate to send me a PM and I'll get back to you ASAP.

Thanks for coming aboard! Lots of shooters here looking for unobtainable calibers for their toys.

I live out west so at times i think a 458 wouldn't be practical but then i say to myself who freaking cares it's just cool! And i would definately use it for elk or mule deer because i can lol

Hello Elmer and welcome on board. I am really happy to see you here, wish you could export to EU, but that's another story...

Hello Elmer,

Has the issue regarding barrel taper been resolved on the standard contour barrels or does barrel channel in stock still require some adjustment?

Blaserpower,
Regarding the barrel taper issue - it has been resolved by reducing barrel diameter forward of the breech by .025.
