Another new member from NZ
Hi.
I live just out of Christchurch in the South Island of New Zealand.
I normally hunt with my oldest son who has just turned 14. We have been using my .25-06 Sauer 202 Elegance with a Zeiss Victory Varipoint scope and a locally made suppressor, but have found my son has been flinching sometimes when hunting with it.
I decided to go to a calibre with slightly less recoil for him, but with the ability to go to either a smaller or larger calibre in the future. I have just purchased a .243 Blaser R8 Professional with an A-Tec Carbon2 suppressor, and have a Zeiss Victory HT scope to mount on it.
We mainly hunt Red Deer, but have shot pigs, and are pretty keen to hunt tahr and chamois.

Welcome to Blaser Buds, hope you find it worth your while to post a few pics of hunts and join in on discussions. I would be interested in what you think of the R8 compared to the Sauer once you have enough time on it to form an opinion.

Welcome, good to have another kiwi here. Us kiwis need to unite when the sheep jokes are coming thick and fast from those buggers across the ditch . Great choice of calibre for your boy.

Re: Another new member from NZ
Welcome aboard. Both of your rifles are top notch. The Elegance is a beautiful rifle. It's probably a tad lighter than the R8 which is allowing him to feel more of the recoil. He'll do fine with the R8 and it won't be long and he'll be ready for a larger caliber.
Look forward to seeing some hunting pics. You have a beautiful country to hunt and some awesome stags.
