Good Morning from Gold Coast, Australia

Post by Themroc »

Well I've done this the wrong way around!

Firstly I purchased a Sauer 101XT in 308Win. Then I recently bought a Sauer 202 Elegance when they were closing them out here in Australia.

And now I've joined Blaserbuds to find out about them!

Both rifles have only been sighted-in at the range and I like them very much already. Hopefully I'll learn a bit about them here.

Cheers, Michael.

There is nothing wrong with Sauer 101 or 202, but you will find the Blaser R8 offers a shorter over all package with the same length barrel, a faster bolt, and a more repeatable takedown and reassembly while maintaining an impeccable zero. and then there is the Blaser K95 Kiplauff (tilting break open) rifle which is even more accurate and even shorter overall length for a given barrel length. And then there is the BD14 Bockdrilling, large rifle, small rifle and shotgun. Be careful Blasers are addictive. Welcome to the group.

I thought me might ease him into the fold slowly, then get him to buy a Blaser.

Welcome aboard. Glad to see another Sauer owner join up. The 202 Elegance is a beautiful rifle. I had one quite a few years back in 7 Rem Mag. It was super accurate and a piece of eye candy that got everybody's attention at the range. Most thought they'd seen beauty in the Wby Mark V and now they really saw it first hand. Already having others in 7 Mag and 300 Wby I did part with that one to a gentleman who swore he was actually going to hunt with it. Hope he did because it deserved to be out in the woods. BTW what caliber is your Elegance?

Look forward to seeing some hunting pics when you get a chance. Maybe a hunting story or two to go along with those pics.

The Blasers have a lot of advantages but there are people who simply don't NEED all those features and are perfectly happy with the Sauer 202, 101 or any other fine bolt gun. I still have the 202 Lightweight in 270 Win and the Colt Sauer in 7 mag and they both do a splendid job in the field or on the range.

Thanks all. My 101 is in 308 Win, with a Meopro 3-10x44 RDC and the 202 is 300 Win Mag. I put a Leica ER5 2-10x50 on that.
Both seem very smooth to cycle and feed, first time I've used a single feed magazine.
This sounds like a dangerous place to spend time, already I'm looking up Blaser and Mauser information!
