Welcome, glad to hear from the lurkers and see them get more active.
Most forums have a core of members that are frequent posters, but its great to hear from the more quiet members as it increases the pool of knowledge and broadens the oppinions expressed.
Its good not to have a concensus if things are to kept from getting stale.
I'm soft and I don't care.

I have a question about German regulations. My daughter and her family live in Schönaich, Germany - they are US citizens, but not military. My son-in-law would like to practice shooting a rifle in Germany in preparation for a trip to Africa next year. As a US citizen, can he own a rifle in Germany and practice with it, and then transport it to Africa next year?

Hello Slugslinger,

i think not. As long as he has no german hunting license or beeing a member in a german "Sportschützenclub", he would not be allowed to buy, own or carry a rifle or gun in germany. Best thing he could do is asking the authorities in Schönaich.

If he knows a German friend who has a hunting license or possesses legal rifles, he could use them, but only at the range and not in the wild and only with his friend.

Sorry, but that is the best answer i can give. Maybe any other assessments?

There are some good indoor ranges with moving targets. Maybe he should look at that?

That range looks terrific! I sent it to my son-in-law. He isn't that far from Ulm.
Thanks again!

Hi,
If he has a small group of friends they can hire the indoor cinema range at the Blaser factory.
I think it was 100euro an hour but you can sharw the cost with a group of say 4 or so.
I used it in August with my wife and it is fantastic.
I cannot imagine a better way to practice in real like situations on moving game.
About 2 hours from Stuttgart.
Allan

Hi Kolostrum,
I do not mean to offend but I am just curious about the meaning of "New "Schwäble" in da house"?
Swabian perhaps?
Thankyou Allan

Hy Allan,

yes, you are right. To be a "Schwäble" means to be a member of these outstanding people :) :D that live between Stuttgart and the Lake of Constance. It is swabian dialect. The land of Mercedes, Audi, Porsche an all these other nice and environmentally friendly car makers.... But the best of all: i am just 30 Minutes away from Blaser in Isny.

K.
