Hello from OK

Post by eskimo36 »

I’ve been reading here awhile and have good friend that finally affected my thinking enough to buy a couple of R8s. I have a 9.3, a 280, and 375 H&H barrels and two receivers. I look forward to learning more and buying more. This R8 is a great gun.

I’m into custom single action revolvers so I’m familiar with the actions of enablers. It’s always a slippery slope.

Welcome aboard mate, that’s a great spread of calibers you have.

Welcome to BlaserBuds, a rail mounted Swarovski Z8i is pretty sweet on any Blaser. Looks like two of you must be enjoying the R8 or are you ambidextrous.

When it comes to buying a bargain I’m ambidextrous but I’m a lefty for shooting.

We can help with the scope selection :) My current favorite scope for a wide range of uses is the Swarovski Z8i 1.7-13.3X42 rail mounted. I chose the Flex reticle which I wasn't too keen on to begin with but have grown fonder of it with use. It works really well on running coyotes. I made a double last week on called in yotes that busted me at the last minute, one at about 45-50 yards and the second about 80 yards or so. It also works really well with the Flex Turret for longer range use. Actually far better than I had imagined. I've made a couple of shots with it from my 308 beyond 600 yards and one at just over 800 yards on coyotes that didn't have any clue I was in their neighborhood. So it is a very flexible scope working well up close for fast action and also out far for precision use.
I have other scopes with more field of view or higher magnification from Zeiss, Kales, Nightforce, and Schmidt and Bender, but this one suites me best.
