Greetings from the U.P. of Michigan

Currently living in the northwest corner of the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. Happily surrounded by the Ojibwa national forest. I am a 75 yr old retired Naval Aviator. Lived a lot of different places and been exposed to a lot of "traditional" methods of hunting, before finding the UP and becoming a Yooper. Been here since 99. I stumbled on BlaserBuds about four months ago. Since then I have purchased the left hand Blaser R8 pro package in 6.5x55se. After that I purchased the .223Rem bbl and LH mini head. The R8 in 6.5x55se and 223Rem has caused the retirement of my 7mm/08, 338/06 and several 20cal rifles. All left hand. I do not feel shorted by this event. My only regret is that I did not know of the Blaser systems years ago. Even with the high cost(to me) of the Blasers I still would have spent less and gotten more. I have gone through a LOT of rifles over the years, looking for the one that would "do it all". I believe that my days of running over mountains are behind me. However, I can still really give it on level ground. Still able to play with the hogs, white tail, black bear and predators, plus a few exotics; if they present themselves. Carl L.

Sounds like a typical Blaser convert! Once you understand the system and see what it can do for you there is nothing out there that comes close in comparison. How many of our good 'custom' rifle guys can add another custom rifle for $1200? Everything switches out in a matter of minutes so that's a snap as well.
I saw my first Blaser rifle some years back at a local gun shop. The owner had no interest in explaining how it worked nor really even showing the rifle. Just looking at it I assumed it was a gadget gun and went on my way. Wasn't until a few years later that I met Corjack and the rest speaks for itself. Gunsafes are nearly empty these days and I don't miss any of them.

Welcome Carl. I too started with a blaser r8 in 6.5x55 at the end of last year and am very happy with it. Hope you enjoy the forum and what it has to offer.

Blaser's have a tendency to make your other rifles collect dust, enjoy that R8

Carl, your neck of the woods holds some very good bird hunting in October. I don't deer hunt there however a couple of my friends do, and they have been doing well the last 3 or 4 years. Dave W.

Welcome to forum. 338-06 is an interesting caliber, one I have considered. I wonder if one of the two guys that do custom Blaser barrels has reamers for it.

I am a 45 year old retired Naval Aviation parachute rigger? I wonder if we ever served in the same units. I was in from 1993-2014.
