My google research says the bird is a "common buzzard" (buteo buteo) and what the Europeans call a buzzard is a hawk in the USA.

We have hawks, eagles, falcon's,kites,Kestrels, goshawk's,harriers and don't ask how I know this but also Hieraaetus or eagle hawks as my grandpa called them.
I'm pretty sure I'm missing a whole bunch but there's a damn lot of raptors out there.

Although I've always wanted a pet owl as they are my favorite birds of prey.

They have a lot of game in Sweden, the truck drivers, who bring towers from the harbour, see wild boars every day.......

I havent seen any boars yet, but maybe on my next rotation, then the fields, might be harvest.

This was a bit confusing to me when I first started studying for the DJV. In Germany at least a Buzzard is differentiated from other raptors in that it attacks from the air to the ground exclusively, where as other birds of prey attack in the air Falken (falcons) or on the water, Fischadler (osprey). Of course an Ewlen (owl) is still an owl even if it attacks from air to ground.
Then there are Harriers, Kites, Eagles and others as well. I think the Germans have an interesting way of classifying their raptors.

Great photos!! Keep them coming. There are no larger game species anywhere in the city I live so to say the least it is a great inspiration to venture out into the forest this weekend to scout for Elk and to dream of hunting in Europe again!! Sweden has some fantastic looking animals!!

Very nice photos of some nice game animals. I can sit and watch wild game all day and consider it a day well spent.
