Woodleigh projectile factory burnt down

Post by deerhunter338mag »

I Just found out the Woodleigh projectile factory caught on fire and has burnt down. Not sure on the full details but I hope its not the end of an era. Geoff has been a wonderful help over the years and would always take your call or emails. Very Sad indeed.

Well that sucks. I hope they will be able to start up again.

Geez, that’s not good news.
I wish them all the best for a recovery.

We won't be able to get anything soon with the supply shortages.
I hope they rebuild.

What I have been told is that Geoff lost all inventory he had produced. Plant and equipment is damaged, but I dont know to what extent. Apparently Geoff is not planning to get the business going again. Hopefully someone involved with Woodleigh production will get it going again, but making new dies, etc and sourcing new machinery will be a big task.

If the equipment is gone, yes rebuilding at this stage won't be worth it to him unless he had kids ect that wanted to take it over.
But it seems like the end of an era.

That's going to be a massive mission I would say.

Most of his equipment was over 50 years old and finding parts for anything like that nowdays is virtually impossible.

Huge loss for everyone. :handgestures-thumbup:

Its really depressing to see it go, on so many levels. But from a domestic hunting perspective it leave such a gap, especially in the bigger bores there is just so little choice now. Just highlights how dependent we have been on Woodleigh.

I'm following Charles' advice of yore and putting my three spare boxes of 30 cal Woodies with my Blaser screwdrivers for possible future use as trade goods. :)
