New part time hobby
I have unsuccessfully been shopping for a dress buckle that suits me. I don't get too dressy anymore and my normal western attire sometimes needs a nice buckle, shined boots and a bolo tie. Since I can't find what I wanted, I decided to make my own. Bought some off the shelf buckles and bolo ties from Montana Silversmith, drilled and tapped them and this is what I came up with!

Good job, I always thought the Marine Corp had a smart looking emblem.

I think that is why my son joined the Marines, the uniform, they are the sharpest.

One thing I noticed with the marine detachment at Darwin, the dress uniform was pretty damn snappy, until they tried doing shots of my moonshine in them on ANZAC day that is.

Yea, he calls my branch of the service the "chair force". I call them the "Angels of Death".

You know it's just the rivalry between the services. I have fun with the others as well.

Re: New part time hobby
I'd love to say something as storing the services is a fine Australian tradition, but Australia's military has been neutered, 50/50 gender quotas, reduced fitness standards, it's 1st gender neutral soldier, no more skull, Spartan or even phantom unit emblems as it makes it look like they are there to kill instead of?
Oh and free gender reassignment surgery.
And that's just the tip of rainbow coloured strap on.
I thought it was bad when they required a 5:1 advantage or they had to withdraw, that ment a 9 man unit of Australia's finest had to withdraw when threatened by two goat humpers with pistols.
When I joined up we trained to fight 1:6 to hold the enemy at bay till QRF arrived.
The defence force has been gutted by dickless PC political opportunist.
And I used to love stirring the marines too.

Re: New part time hobby
I will give the Marines one thing they know whats relevant, they know what their job is and they don't try and sugar coat or apologize for doing the job they are paid and trained to do.
They are taught to be proud, or brass wants us to be ashamed.
That's a huge difference.

We called the Air Force the Country Club Service. They were the only branch that sent their officers out to do their fighting for them. . Of course I appreciated those pilots who flew us around in C130's so we could jump out of their perfectly good airplanes.
