I haven't decided. My mate was so impressed with the 416 Rem on sambar the other week he's begging me to take it out again so he can see the devastation again. I used to be happy with the 30-06

I'm hoping Blaser will one day make an R8 404 jeff barrel, they do for Mauser & Sauer so I can't see why not.  :handgestures-thumbup:

You’ve first crack if I ever sell it. It will slam a scope in your face if you’re holding it like a .30’06 though, which is where red dots and their unlimited eye relief come in to play.
I have a hunch that a heavy Le high custom and a load of trail boss would be pleasant enough that you could sight them via a Pulsar NV / thermal. The costs of running their bullets make Thermal year seem cheap as an overal expenditure

I’m reminded of the scene in Spaceballs where Mel Brooks Yoda character proclaims “merchandising”!.

Even with the Isny consortiums love of merchandising of all the brands they try to keep them to separate sectors of the market. Which the M03 was available in .404 they wouldn’t do it in the R8
Now we have the Mauser DWM, which may revive the .404 and its offspring the 9,3x70DWM whilst the M98 safari is only in .375, .416 etc.... and each will have a specific knife, sling, hat,.....

Or I'll wait for the Mauser M19 or M20. :handgestures-thumbup:

All depends on what market they decide to target - this year the Walmart special M18 get the IWA treatment and the 98DWM just gets a sneaky release - high turnover trumps prestige and nostalgia unfortunately

I just want to make shotshells and shoot trail boss loads at 45 colt velocity.

My guess is you can do that with the 44mag already.

I do, the 45 Blaser is just bigger, and Blaser don't make a 44mag barrel.

Not sure how I’d go trying out some of Roberts .454 Casul data

Its fun to play with big slow loads, recoil is surprisingly mild a rental push and the performance with soft pills is surprisingly good.
Had a great 220gn mild load for the 375H&H that was pleasant to shoot and dropped everything I shot with it.
