Oldest photo of yourself with a firearm
For the last few weeks I’ve been cleaning out the store room and have found many a faded memory.
These 2 bought back a few memories. Both photos were taken in the early 70’s in Mackay. No licensing of long arms back then
One shows me holding my first Omark (single shot target rifle in 7.62 NATO) photo taken in my parents front yard when I was almost 14. I’d have been waiting in the front yard for a lift to the range. IIRC $2 for my range and ammo fees and 20 cents for a can of coke.
Other shows my mate and I heading out for a wallaby hunt. I’m armed with my 12th birthday present a Stirling model 20 . A 15 shot semiauto .22 and my mate with a single shot 12 gauge.
What’s your oldest photo?

Technology required, lol. Converted from 8mm movie to DVD to snappin' a foto with the newfangled phone. Quality has been degraded, oldest foto I know of me, circa 1965. There was not a bird within miles safe from me, I was dangerous to their life, ha.

Here is a photo of me with my Winchester 101 .410 over/under and some grouse near Fairbanks Alaska. The year was 1978 so 42 years ago. I have many other older ones but not accessible at the moment.

Re: Oldest photo of yourself with a firearm
Some great photos of young fellas.
I think these are the oldest photos I’ve got of me with game.
A pig taken with a model 94 in 44 magnum about 1976.
And a brumby taken on my second ever brumby hunt (IIRC) pretty sure the rifle is a REM 700 BDL in 243 with a 1 to 4 burris. Ammunition would have been 85 grain Sierra HPBT. Probably late ‘77. Or early ‘78.
Are the memories

Re: Oldest photo of yourself with a firearm
I might have all of you beat. I have loved guns ever since I can remember. This is one of the few baby photos I have of myself. The "firearm" was a pump rifle that shot ping-pong balls and it was given to my older brother Phil for his birthday or Christmas. According to family legend, I immediately appropriated it and would not let go of it. As you can see, I was not more than 2 years old. I believe this is what the great zoologist Konrad Lorenz famously described as "imprinting". And 65 years later, I am still a gun nut!
