Long time listener, first time caller ...

Post by analog_peninsula »

Hi everyone,

I just joined the forum and wanted to say hello to everyone. I own two Blasers, an F16 Intuition that I bought for my wife, and an R8 in .458 Lott, that I bought for myself. I'm more or less a casual hunter, but I've hunted African plains game twice, once in South Africa and once in Namibia. I live in a Dallas suburb and have a decent deer lease outside of Childress. The deer are pretty ordinary in terms of size, but there are lots of them, as well as plenty of hogs and coyotes.

Anyway, that's the 30 second version of me.

All the best,

a_p

Ah, I see that I should have posted this in the "Introductions" forum. Moderator, could you move this to the right forum?

Thanks!

Welcome aboard, sir. I am just up the road in SE OKlahoma. 458 Lott is not a gun many casual hunters choose!

I actually, if you'll pardon the pun, just pulled the trigger on another R8 in 7mm Remington Magnum. The Lott is intended for a future trip to Africa. Of course, I say that every year, but events seem to conspire against my plans. I can't complain though. Most of my problems are of the first world variety, like too much foam in my latte, etc.

Welcome to the board. Nice to have another Texan join the fun. Don't have a lot of 458 Lott shooters around here but there are a few diehards.  When you get a chance post a few pics of your hunting spot by Childress and maybe a few deer pics.

I also have a .458 Lott to use for Africa and enjoy it.
Also have a deer lease but mine is close to Spur. Welcome

For those of you who have never visited the glorious metropolis that is Childress, Texas, I've a few pictures of the surrounding area. You'll notice that the terrain is not unlike that of South Africa.

Yes it sure does. Had several friends tell me over the years when they visited south Texas that it looked like Africa. Some parts obviously more so than others but the similarities are there. Now if we just had lions, tigers, elephants, buffalo, etc....

Welcome a_p,

Can you tell those of us who do not know (like me) how many acres in an average Texas deer lease?

Thanks,
Gary
