Olsen, this is a small boat. 🤣

Post by SPEEDY »

This is the little tinnie I picked up today, I'm going to do a little sandblasting tomorrow to get it ready to paint.
Then on Monday I will prime it and two pack it olive green ready for a river fishing and duck hunting sneek boat.
I've got a little, well tiny actually brand new, 2.5hp 4 stroke Yamaha outboard that will work on it that I bought for my hybrid kayak.
It fits perfectly on the camper trailer so I will be able to take both away by myself, and will still fish/hunt two people comfortably.
I will put some proper pics up when I'm finished putting it together.

10ft, tiny little thing.

My catch power 100 hybrid kayak struggles going against the current, it will do it at half throttle but at full the front lifts up and the flow just lifts it and stops it.

But the 2.5hp will handle it, it won't fly against the current but it will go at a fast walking pace and that's all I need.

But I've got a 15ft aluminium canoe coming that I'm going to cut short to 10ft oe so and put a transom on so I can run the motor on it too.
That should be well suited for the river.

But this one will be better to take the wife out on.

Was going to sand blast it today, but my compressor wouldn't hold more then 50psi, so I spent the day fixing that instead.
Should have it sorted now, so hopefully if it doesn't rain tomorrow I can do it then.
But I sized it up on the camper trailer and it's perfectly sized for it.

I'm going to pain the both olive green, just a, shame the canvas is blue.

That’s a great size for one. Makes the small rivers that can hold good cod easy to manoeuvre over logs etc.

I'm trying to find the perfect set up, I won't do it but its fun playing with them.
Besides I like working on boats, fix them up and then move onto the next idea.
I love the advantages of kayak fishing but I'm not a fan of kayaks, little boats get into the same places but are more comfortable and better for two.
The main reason for messing around with the aluminium canoe is I've always wanted a sneak boat and hell it's, free.
Well I will probably put a few hundred into it but it keeps me out of trouble during lock down.
I've got a lot more to do to the camper trailer, it needs new seals and some waterproofing.
I want to put up some led lights and put an anderson plug inside too.

I managed to strip the oxidation off of the sides today, going to finish the bottom and then prime and paint it, then get started on the inside later in the week.

Managed to get the etch primer on it today, supposed to be a little rain tomorrow but if there's a good sunny break I might put the base green coat on it, fingers crossed.

Yep, I think of little boats the same as I think of blaser barrels.
You might as well have one for every occasion. 😂

I've got a 4th coming as soon as Sydney ends its lock down, it's a 16ft aluminium canoe, I'm going to cut it at about 12ft and put a reinforced transom on it and turn it into a sneak boat for ducks.
It will also act as a tow boat for gear if I want to go hunting with a mate somewhere around the water like Eldon ect.

I think that photo makes a statement all on its on. Not about the boat but the utility of the wheelie bin as a support for home tasking.
