The next project boat
Round at a mates brother in laws place the other weekend and ended up coming home with another boat to play with for the princely sum of $300.
Should come out OK, I'm going to fix the trailer up 1st and get it registered, new led lights, stripped and cold galvanised, new chains and do the wheel hubs and bearings.
Then take it to get it sand blasted, paint it, new carpeted decking, front casting platform, full overhaul of the engine and fit a battery, electric motor and navigation lights.
That should keep me out of trouble for a while.

Re: The next project boat
I couldn't say no, I've already cut the dodgy light bars off the back, welded new chain on, I'm plugging the old screw holes and dressing up the old bits of various metal off of it tomorrow.
Then I'm going to mount the lights low, fit a rubber crash proof number plate holder, strip it back an cold galvanise it before getting it registered next week.
Then it's onto the boat.

Re: The next project boat
This one actually has the makers details still on it so I can find out.
It's definitely an early 70's one judging by the motors age, and the fact it's made out of thick hard rigid aluminium that's much thicker then anyone would use today.
Edit to add.
It's a deHavilland built boat.

Sucked in by the flared bow. Didn't know that De Havilland had done that, although the transom looks like the old De Havillands.SPEEDY wrote: ↑Thu Nov 04, 2021 5:02 pm This one actually has the makers details still on it so I can find out.

I like the flared bow too, I can see this thing cutting through the water pretty well.
I had a big play with the motor today, but couldn't get it to fire.
Going to pull the car by and clear it out as everything else seems to check out.
But worse case there's a 15hp yamaha for sale that would go good on it.

Re: The next project boat
It took a bit but I finally got the motor running, I had to clean out the car by and free up the impeller and clean and flush the cooling system out.

Re: The next project boat
I finally got the free time to make up the lights and numberplate holder, it's hinged so I can get away with mounting it lower.
But God some people should never touch anything electrical, it probably would have been easier to rip out the old wire and run all new stuff, but there was that much spare all I had to do in the end is cut about a, 3td of it out.
Gave the trailer a paint and braises up the holes where I pulled the junk out of it.
I'm not worried about over spray on the number plate, it was just put on as a template to get the hinges right.

Better then it was, Ut I've got to finish this one quick as I'm picking up the next one later in the month.
