I have a wait and see attitude. I've seen the videos and the specs. But I just emotionally (being honest) am not sure how I feel about my itty-bitty R8 shooting 338LM. I know when compared to the R93 and I assume the TAC 2, it's significantly stronger. But I also wonder about recoil and fatigue.

Bottom line. I'm interested. But waiting so see how users report back on their experiences.

I believe if it was to be used on a regular basis, a stock with the steel receiver might come in handy!

There meant to be a good 4 months before there out here as well as sav338 was saying. But it wouldn't surprise me if its a bit longer. But quicker than building a custom rifle anyhow. 250gr EH from Berger you should be getting up around high 2800fps easy. Fitted with a T3 terminator muzzle brake it will be like a 243w. My 338rum is 4.5kg with a T2 terminator brake and it has the boot of a 308 with out any punchiness. You put the right brake on and they will be no problems at all. You could always see Speedy and get one of he's skirts if it does

Cheers guys, I just placed an order and the dealer tells me its going to take 3-4months before it gets here Australia.
Im going to start buying bits and pieces in anticipation of it,
I need the overall diameter of the match barrel at the crown so i can order the T3 brake.

Obviously not for the R8

Equally obviously, rather fat. What's the profile and what action are you using ?

I always thought that the availability of Lapua brass made the 338 Lap a more sensible choice than the other mega 338s.

It's a N# 5 profile and I have a stiller Tac338 action for it. I'm building a 338lap imp should be alright for stalking

I thought the recipe would be something like that. The barrel alone will weigh nearly as much as my light rifle, though definitely not as track axleish as used by some who go down this path. Should settle nicely on a rest.

Stock is a McMillan, I'm guessing ?? Maybe end up at 91/2 to 10 lbs plus rail, scope and mounts ? 12 to 13 all up ? Stalking or lugging ?

Yeah McMillian stock which I just love. I think it will be around the 13 -14 lbs when it's scoped and finished.
