My Dirty ***** Barrel
Wind was under 5 mph this evening. Shot 5 shots with the 140 Berger Elite Hunter. Got a group of exactly 2.75 inches. That would be .6565 MOA at 400 yards.
Then I grabbed five rounds of the 142 grain Sierra Match king. Got exactly a 2.625 inch. That is .6267 MOA at 400 yards. If that one shot had not gone high, it would have been under 2 inches.
I am going to start calling her, "my dirty little girl"
In all seriousness, I think I am going to go up a tenth grain, and see if a bit of the vertical goes away.

Just think what your dirty girl would have done if you cleaned her up a little.

It doesn't matter what you shoot as long as you shoot

Thinking this through, since dirty girls generally open up maybe you want to consider cleaning her up.

Nice shooting Corjack. You tried it out to a 1000meters yet. Be really interesting to see how it groups with groups like that.
Measure it, when it’s on the deck

It shot it at 700 yards the other day in the match, but it was hard to tell how it was printing during the competition.

Re: My Dirty ***** Barrel
Shot it again today. The Sierra load shot just as well. The Berger not quite as good. looks like I am real close though. I think when I have time I will go up a tenth a grain at a time with the Berger. It has a good bit more jump than the Sierra. May need a bit more boost.

I'm glad I don't chase every last drop of accuracy, it's just too much effort.
By the time you get it down pat your a few hundred rounds down the tube.

Re: My Dirty ***** Barrel
It isn't necessary for hunting, I'm guilty of overdoing it. But for competition if you don't, you won't be competitive, might as well not compete. Besides, I really enjoy it, and get great satisfaction from doing so. The only benefit to hunting at traditional ranges is the confidence.
