How quick you go through the power on the big guns
Loaded up a few rounds on the 338lapimp yesterday and it doesn't take long to knock over 1/2kg of powder

Is that with AR2217?
That's the load that I've used in a 338lap and it was a pretty good performer.

Never tried that, but in the Lapua/imp it should work better as it's an overbored case.
Navy you tried RE25? I recon it would be the ducks nutts in the Imp case.

Only problem is availability with these different powders. Doesn't take much to empty 1/2 tub of powder. It wasn't easy to working a load out for this rifle, so I'm not going to try anything new with it. I know in the 300wby mag that RE25 is extremely good and you get a lot more speed with it as well. Any improved case is fun once worked it out, but that's the fun bit working them out. Once it starts shooting a bit sihityy, I might try it why waiting for the new barrel to arrive. But I've got about a 1000's shots to go they reckon.SPEEDY wrote:Never tried that, but in the Lapua/imp it should work better as it's an overbored case.

Always good to remember 500 grams of powder = 7716 grains = 100 rounds with 77g of powder = a right pain in arse if you use 81g per round
If you're running 80+g per round then playing with a powder you can only find a pound of once a year is a waste of time in my mind - long live AR 2217 & 2225! (& buying at least a kilo at a time )

Thats why they are 4kg when your running 2218 powder. The grains are so chunky.
