Nice round, but whats it got that the 22/250 doesn't?

I must be missing something.

I wonder if it could also be a barrel burner?

Fits in an AR-15 magazine. That's it's niche.

So am I correct in thinking Savage are owned by the same investment group that owns Federal who are marketing the round?

Speedy, from memory it's a 6.8SPC necked down, so that interesting seldom used middle diameter case between .223 & .308. A fast twist .22/250 firing 90g-100g bullets in a AR10 clone would surpass it, but theres a lot of other ways to use up a 72mm magazine

I will put my money on the 5.8mm x 42, as previously discussed.
Paper is my game, steel the same.

A long .20 cal might be even better, but reinventing to 223rem into something much better is interesting.
It would make an interesting military round, with a 90gn pill it would have great penetration.

You are correct form my reading that it's a 6.8 necked down. Didn't Federal develop the 90 gr Fusion projectile specifically for hunting from this round?

I actually have a box of ammo that James Gilliland, the fellow in the last picture gave me at the last match I attended. I think it is a neat concept, and I think it will find a place.
