GRS Ragnarok opinions

Post by OR4NGE »

I am thinking of building myself a nice R8 308 ELR rig.

The investment required to get a GRS Ragnarok stock is considerable so was wondering to the few of you that actually have and use one how was your experience with it ?

I have a GRS Bolthorn stock for my SSG 3000 and Love it so no need to convince me of the quality of GRS products, just not sure if going the ragnarok way will be effective enough to be worth it as you need to sacrifice an R8 Professionnal stock.

The adjustment system for the butt stock is horrible compared to the Bolthorn, wood, and Berserk models. They cheapened everything up and went with plastic on plastic with a metal spring.

I sent mine back a few weeks ago, never even installed it. Pissed off.

The problem with the wood one is that a lot of them have been breaking in the grip. If you are going to drop that much, I am not sure what I would currently do. But it wouldn't be a GRS unless it was a Berserk.

Completely different feedback.

I quite like the GRS Ragnarok chassis and have had a lot of success with it. The adjustments are fine and easy to use. What you need to remember is they are not infinitely adjustable. Which means not friction. They use small teeth, so if your lock isn't quite on a tooth, pull up or down slightly on surface and…click. For long range shooting, high volume shooting, or tracking over great distances this certainty is critical. Friction will loosen.

The system is robust and can take abuse. Also the front end allows for use of lights, lasers, NV, bipods very easily. The middle of the chassis is designed to be sturdy enough to mount into a Hogg Saddle / Tripod without having to squeeze the action to death with again…a friction fit.

The GRS Ragnarok Chassis is the only solution for the R8 series of rifles that replicates the R93's Tactical 2 / LRS 2 line.
That may not appeal to everyone. But luckily GRS has tons of options for more traditionally minded shooters.

Synthetic stock has ability to be camouflaged. I have zero interest in a wood stock / hybrid chassis.
