Diana R8 and M03 air rifles
Found this in the latest Nioa catalogue and can not find any info on the Diana website.
Nioa being an Australian importer specialising in Ruger/Savage/Weatherby and other premium centrefire brands didnt bother to note in their catalogue why these two rifles have unique stocks and sights.
The 350 NTEC AR8 http://www.nioa.com.au/products/list/view/DI350AR8177
and
The 31 NTEC AM03 http://www.nioa.com.au/products/list/view/DI31AM03177

I like that M03, I wouldn't mind one in .22 but even the .177 would be a whole lot of cheap fun around the house or camp.
I'm soft and I don't care.

Geez 1300 fps is moving for an air rifle.

I've found those high velocity spring operated air rifles to be unpleasant to shoot. The spring action is far too violent and the accuracy is lacking compared to the ones that shoot 750 fps or so. They aren't as violent as a 300 win mag but pretty close

Re: Diana R8 and M03 air rifles
Both of the above rifles are based on Diana's Nitrogen cylinder NTEC design rather than the old spring design. Supposedly there is a 40% recoil reduction.
I'm in the market for a grown up .22 airgun but after playing with some of the superfast .17s I share your thoughts on the lack of accuracy - I put it down to being really pellet fussy at high speed, and a tendency to bounce off any rest you attempt to use.
There is also the problem of supersonic muzzle velocity equating to a trans sonic zone somewhere in your pellets path - havent crunched the numbers but given the BC of the average pellet I'm sure it wouldnt be that far away

That's why I like .22 18gn pellets at the 850-900fps mark.
Their usually fairly accurate and pack a good punch.
Great for rabbits or pest birds around the house.

I agree Bob, a mate bought his son a slug gun last year and it doesn't have open sights and so far every air rifle scope he has put on it has let go. I told him to get a gas operated one but been a tight ass and not spending a touch more he is now spending the money he saved been tight.stokesrj wrote:I've found those high velocity spring operated air rifles to be unpleasant to shoot. Measure it, when it’s on the deck
