R14 is the progeny of a marriage between an R8 and a S404. Unclear if one can remove the buttstock but I presume so. If so, to one-up Blaser and Sauer R14 needs a suite of buttstocks in synthetic and wood having varying degrees of adjustability from none, to cheek rest only, to check rest plus LOP, to cheek rest plus buttplate with full adjustability

If the R14 catches-on, it has the potential to equal the barrel modularity of Blaser, more stock modularity at a much lower cost, more trigger modularity, and magazine modularity which Blaser does not have. Sight modularity of R8 and R14 seems equal. Perhaps straight pull action of R14 even faster than R8 but perhaps not enough to be significant. Would seem Strasser and Blaser both high quality.
But a big-if about catching-on. The competition will be for the hearts, minds and wallets of those purchasing a high-quality modular rifle, not the BFs.
