Hey Guys,

Thanks Fellas

Re: Shipping Issues
You have already messed up by telling them what was in the package.
If you are asking what "I" would do, I would take it to the PO and keep my mouth shut.

Re: Shipping Issues
If you took it to a UPS 'STORE' you screwed up. They are not actually employees of UPS and are thus believed by UPS to be too stupid or dishonest to be trusted with ammunition or shipping a rifle, etc. Seriously it's that ridiculous. You can however take it to a UPS Customer center and they'll ship ammo and rifles with no problem, at least the ones down here...
The only thing UPS requires is a label that identifies it as ordnance. The label doesnt' have to be very big. I copied some off a website and printed them on selfstick label sheets.
Here is the link to the gunbroker article that addresses the legalities in shipping ammo. They also have a picture of the label that I use. They have way too much nonsense in this post but it does have a telephone number at the bottom where you could call if the local center refuses to take the ammo. Sounds like you have a winner on your hands... BTW the gunbroker post says Fed Ex will ship ammo also but I ran into a problem with one of their city-fied faggots who refused to ship it for me. I politely told him it would be a cold day in hell before I ever gave Fed Ex another dime's worth of business. Sometimes it's really hard to be a nice guy....

As for the post office. I know people who ship ammo through them all the time and there's never a problem. However it is a steep fine and possible jail time if you get caught. I believe the fine can go as high as $250,000.

Re: Shipping Issues
as the champ mentioned, it is perfectly legal to ship ammo UPS and is not against any UPS rules, you have a UPS store problem.

Champ,
Thanks for the help, great info.I actually did take the ammo to a UPS customer service center and their rep. told me they could ship the ammo but it had to go to a dealer it could not go directly to the recipient which after an hour on the phone with a different rep I found out the first rep was a jackass that didnt know what she was talking about.Anyway found out that it could be done as you have stated in your post. Thanks again for the info,Iam sure others found it to be helpful also.

Re: Shipping Issues
You're quite welcome. Yeah unfortunately them 'jackasses' inhabit the food chain all over the place. I went into the post office here a couple years ago to ship a Browning 22 Semi Auto. It was broke down with the barrel and action in the box. By law you're supposed to tell the dumbass there that it's a 'gun'. They can ship rifles anywhere in the country as long as it's going to a FFL. (Actually in Texas we can ship rifles to each other as long as they don't cross state lines...) Anyhow I told her it was a gun and she recoiled like it had live rattle snakes in it. She looked at the package and acted as if she was scared of it. She then asked if it was loaded and I said No, but the one on my hip was loaded... She said that was different and then told me it couldn't be shipped. I appealed to someone with a brain and the other guy said yes it was no problem. The rifle was shipped. Approximately 4 months later I came in to ship another one. She refused to do it. The other idiot that was there that day concurred with her that it couldn't be shipped unless I was shipping with an FFL. I was pissed. I decided it was easier to ship it somewhere else and told them where to put the post office. Haven't gone back to that one with a gun ever again. Use UPS now and it's no hassle. They know me and it's in and out with a smile! Just be sure to insure and pack everything very well... They don't treat stuff with kid gloves. More like the Samsonite Gorilla....
