Re: .300 Win with 181g TUG
Very appealing, particularly as I am waiting for a 300 Winnie barrel for my R93. I don't have any UNI/TUG/TIG whatever, in 30 cal.
Bit surprised that something as slow as 2217 works so well with that weight.
You need a chrono, and you'll get old if you're waiting for the A$ to reach parity before getting one
I wouldn't worry about the COAL thing. If you've sorted it as best you can to suit your mag and throat, your figure will be the go.

Re: .300 Win with 181g TUG
Funnily enough I use 2213SC under 201g bullets and tried it under 180g Accubonds with no luck and really sedate velocities at listed maximum loads (back when I had access to a chronograph ) I do have a perhaps paranoid fear with 2217 of batch to batch variation thanks to it being the new kid on the blocksecondtry wrote: Bit surprised that something as slow as 2217 works so well with that weight.

I'm using 2217 in my 300wm 77gr using 210gr VLD and it's very accurate. It's an Amazing powder.
Measure it, when it’s on the deck

You need one Theo trust me. I shoot mine out to a k on rocks and it's as accurate as my custom 338rum on a good day.TheoR8 wrote:Nice group Brett, im really trying hard to resist buying a 300win mag barrel.

Problem is I already own a 338wm and an 8x68S lol. But a 300wm would fit nicely somewhere in my line up.deerhunter338mag wrote:You need one Theo trust me. I shoot mine out to a k on rocks and it's as accurate as my custom 338rum on a good day.

300WM is a special cal for some reason I have a bit of a soft spot for it.TheoR8 wrote:Problem is I already own a 338wm and an 8x68S lol. They work
Although expect cup and core separation of the last hard lead section at .300Win velocity if pointed at something bigger than a bushbuck

Good stuff, very interesting to see the TUG used in the field by other shooters.
I have used the 7mm and 9.3 variants for years with good results.
