6.5 Creedmoor 120 Amax Hornady R8 Blaser

Post by Corjack »

Caliber 6.5 Creedmoor

Brand Of Ammo Hornady Match

Weight and type of bullet. 120 grain Amax

Range in yards or meters 100 yards

Brand of rifle and barrel length R8 Blaser 58cm

Scope used or open sights Swarovski Z6 3-18X50 BRH

Group size in inches, MOA, MM, or MRAD. Five shots, .88 inches, .84MOA

The shot right was the second shot. If not for that it would have been .5. I may have pulled it. I feel the 58cm barrel is a bit short to be optimum with 140 grain bullets. I was very happy to see this barrel liked these 120s. I will probably order a case of it, just for this rifle.

Corjack:

Was it a standard or semi-weight barrel? Do you think there would be a big difference between the two in terms of accuracy? I ask because Blaser states that semi weight barrels improve shooting performance from stabilizing the rifle, reducing recoil, and minimizing muzzle movement. However, perhaps none of those directly affect accuracy per se but refer to a hunting situation.

Good question. It is a standard weight barrel. I am sure the heavier barrel might be more consistently accurate. It also may be easier to hold still because of the weight.
