Beware: A scam web site in UK!!!

Post by icebug »

EDIT: The website has been shut down, apparently my effort was not useless.

Just as a warning to our forum members from UK, the web site http://www.weapons-limited.eu/ supposedly from Denton, Manchester is a scam!
It is a poor copy of web site http://www.bluefoxglade.co.uk/.

The scammer put "USED" link where you can find interesting stuff at very low prices (first clue that something is fishy).
Furthermore, I've investigated a bit and figured out that his domain has been registered only by the end of May this year, but the company actually exists since 1995. All pictures in "USED" section have been uploaded on June 02, but they are from different sources. Some of them are taken by camera, some by mobile phone and some have been downloaded from eBay.
The used stuff prices are in Euros, while the rest of the site is in British Pounds.
The scammer introduces himself as Robert Dearden and I have spoken to him via phone.
He stole this identity from Robert Michael Dearden Howorth, which actually exists, he's 71, a British citizen and he's the director of the company Weapons UK Ltd registered at the actual address the scammer uses as his. I spoke to "Robert" via phone and from his voice I can tell that he's not 71 nor his accent is British.
The phone numbers on his web site are hard to locate (some phone forwarding service) and if you look at Google street view, at that address, there is no weapons shop as advertised.
Pictures on his site have been Photoshopped, the text has been modified, but TBH he did a very poor job.
I would really like to know who is that MOFO and would gladly fornicate him up for doing this kind of things.

So, dear UK members, please share this info around. I hope the scammer will be identified and caught soon.

Good job Icebug. The site certainly does look legitimate. Hopefully the word will get around and nobody gets taken.

Now he even added some more stuff, and some of it has been sold. Yeah, right.

He didn't bother to put any protection of his web site, so you can freely browse through folders.
Some text files from original advertisements can be found in some of "his" stuff.

An interesting fact is that the same R8 Carbon stock is advertised in Romania for the same price.
And guess what, the person who listed it, his name is Robert. Just a coincidence?

Can't believe that nobody can shut down this web site.

Interesting tidbit on that R8 Carbon stock that's for sale in two places... They're using the pictures from Mad Dog in Arizona. I'd say you have 2 crooks, not counting Mad Dog of course.

Iberico, we haven't heard anything new regarding the scammer in England. Icebug posted back in July that the website had been shut down. Other than that we haven't heard any news for quite some time. Good luck on recouping your money. Can't be too careful when dealing over the internet with people you don't know.

I believe there has been a second scam website created. Again copying an English website and advertising on egun.

Be mindful that if something appears to good to be true then it probably is. If necessary I will assist where I can checking the validly of any uk advertisers should a bud be looking to make a purchase.

And here it is again!
Same story, but a different web site name.
http://www.gunshott-limited.eu/

He's trying to advertise on a German trading site eGun.de, but his profile is being deleted within 24 hours of advertising his merchandise.

So, please beware!!!
