1911 sights

Post by Corjack »

Well when I got home the fellow was done working on my Colt Stainless Combat Commander, he did an excellent job, fitted ambi safety and a new slide stopworked over the trigger, tightend the slide up just a skosh and beadsblasted it. I am wanting a set of night sights and am thinking about these adjustables. MMC is what I origanally was going to try, but understand they are have some sort of meltdown right now. These are Meprolites. What do you think? Should I just stick with fixed sights?

I've used both and both are good. Had some MMCs on a Glock and a lot of the officers had Meprolites on their Glocks. I hadn't heard of anything regarding MMC but it's been years since I even thought of them. The ones on the Glock did go bad and I called them to let them know. They sent out a replacement set immediately. Was very pleased with their service. Probably 6-7 years ago though so no telling what the story is now. Big thing is the warranty and the ability of the company to back it up...

I've never heard of MMC, but I have used Meprolights and Trijicons on my Glocks and Sig. I have been toying with adding night sights to my Para Carry, but I can decide what to get either. :confusion-shrug:

MMC used to be a small company that was based in Las Vegas (if I remember right). They were the only company at the time that made a windage and elevation adjustable rear 'night' sight for a Glock. Most company's sites didn't have both adjustments at that time. Very nicely made and you could actually sight in a Glock! I've never been content with a gun that 'shoots in that direction'.... bullshevick! I had tricked out the Glock to the point that it was actually a decent pistol. Still got bored with it and sold it.... After cutting your teeth on the Walther P88s the Glock feels like something from the 5 and Dime!

I have owned several Glocks and still have two, but you are 100% correct about them feeling cheap. On the other hand, I have an old first generation G17, and it was my first Glock to rebuild. I do like the fact that you don't have to be a Glock Armorer to work on one, but other than the rebuild, which wasn't really "needed", I have never had to do anything but load magazines for mine.Image

I much prefer adjustable sights in a 1911, especially if it has been accurized.
Bomar sights, melted are my favorites.

High visibility fixed sights are ok on a defense gun once you get them sighted in for you carry load.

Night sights are a good idea as well.
