Need Day Pack Recommendation for African Hunting

Post by MSR_Gal »

I need advice picking a good day pack for hunting in Africa. I need something to carry spare ammo, binoculars, water, snack/lunch, rain gear, camera, etc. This will be for mainly spot and stalk hunting or occasionally hunting from a hide/blind.

Given you are (presumably) paying for someone else to carry most of the emergency supplies, I'd have a look at something slim like the StoneyCreek Streamline (p39 of http://www.stoneycreek.net.nz/catalogue.html) essentially a camelback with a few hunting specific additions.

There is of Course the leather Blaser rucksack, but I'd doubt you want to carry that much gear in Africa ;)

Gun Barrel,

That looks like it would work well for my circumstances. Is it available anywhere in the U.S.?

Did it on his checkout. $30 to the USA for shipping. From the looks of his checkout calculator he ships pretty much world wide. Nice stuff.

Is this your first trip to Africa? I can honestly tell you that you will not have to carry much at all.
Where are you heading to?

I have never worn a dayack on any of my African hunts.

I use a Filson shoulder bag to carry the stuff I need in the truck.

I have one from Crooked Horn Outfitters that has worked very well for me on various hunts. It had a nice tope pocket for binoc's and spotting scope. pockets for water bottles and easy zip openings to get into your stuff.
