Thats hunting for you, sometimes it works out and sometimes it just all goes wrong.
But I love that middle earth countryside, although the hights would get to me a bit.
Everywhereis a long way down.

I don't feel so bad.

The first shot at a live target from my Stutzen resulted in a clean miss of a fox at 85yards.

Perhaps we need a sub-thread titled "Kipplauf Misses"

Blasernovice - that's an awesome video you've shared! Thanks for putting that together and sharing. That rifle looks so light when you put it together - almost like a toy! Just love it....That miss on the chamois may well have been wind rather than a pulled shot...

Well we all miss shots, even easier ones.
I used to shoot foxes out to 300m at night back on the farm with the 223rem, but I still remember clean missing some sitters at 50m from a stable rest off the roof.

We all miss, we just generally don't like talking about it.

Yes, we do all miss, I missed a coyote at 197 yards yesterday, measured with a laser range finder after the shot. I didn't have the rangefinder out when the coyote appeared and four of us discussed the range as 350, 300, 275, and 250. I held for 275 and it gave him a haircut across the top of the shoulders, no blood. All were shocked when I ranged it at only 197 yards. I won't show the video, not because I'm ashamed of the miss but because my cameraman forgot the camera in Phoenix .

Nice javelinas Bob. Is that the exit or entrance wound on your javelina?

That is the entrance, the bullet didn't exit. The shot angle was slight quartering away and the bullet went through the heart, both lungs at the very front lobes, breaking the spine where the neck drops down and stopped in the very front of the off leg. It had highly fragmented with only pieces left where it stopped. It did it's job and of course dropped him on the spot.

That is impressive and makes me pause to rethink bullet selection. Congrats again on your successful and fun kipplauf hunt.
