Nice pick up and restoration

The 7x65R is a fairly universal cartridge suitable for a wide range of game so I’m surprised your having difficulty finding ammo or components. Norma make excellent brass and RCBS dies, so you shouldn’t have to go down the path of bulk ordering RWS ammo unless you really want to.

The 10 packs of RWS with H mantels are probably collectors items and best preserved rather than shot up IMHO.

GECO brass is the way to go if you can find it.
Cheap RWS brass just not annealed as many times.

Thanks for the kind words boys! Always nice to hear words of affirmation from your peers.

canalrifle, I did read your post re your barrel insert. Actually read it over before I bought mine, so I was somewhat informed when I was haggling. I found a scanned copy of the instructions and am contemplating fitting it myself. Looks like I just need to file out a notch in the extractor and dress the top of the rim screw a few thou....still thinking...

mchughcb, thanks for the links...watched them awhile back when pouring over internet info on drillings. Small world. Man, you guys have a lot of foxes. I pass on them when I see them. Coyotes however....

7x65R is rare as hell around here. I can see though it is right in around the 280 Remington mark for performance, so in Ontario Canada, it fits as a universal as well. I have only shot the Bell cartridges. I can get S+B but have to order them. Likely will set the RWS rounds aside for nostalgia.

Do you have the Allen wrench needed for securing the insert?

My 7x65R using RWS cases and 175gr interlocks and woodleigh 175gr PP. I find that weight accurate and kills well.

No, I don’t actually. It looks like it’s a square drive too. Do you have one? Can you confirm?

Thanks for the info. Do you have load details as to powder charge and type?

RL19 also works extremely well in the 7x64, so I assume it will also do well in the 7x65R.
But being a break action you don't want to push to hard.

I'm using Norma brass, federal 210 primer, 57.5gr ADI2213sc/H4831sc with a 162 a-max. Getting 2750fps from a 23.5" barrel in my K95.

The Allen wrench is square drive .094" wide. Mine is 2.74" long. I am sure you can get one from Krieghoff, if you can't find one otherwise.

If you need help on regulation let me know. I might make a video on how to do it.
