NY newbie
Hey All.
Been shooting and building turn bolt rifles for years.
I shot a friends Tac2 338 lap a couple of years ago, but never got the bug to look into it further.
Last year we met up at deer camp and he brought the Tac2, as we recently made some shooting lanes with 600 yard shots available.
I shot it a couple of times again and got the Blaser bug.
I looked into the R8 platform, but want the ability to have a detachable magazine.
I found some LRS2 and Tac2 rifles, but am waiting for my funds to accumulate, or sell some other toys to purchase one.
When I searched for Blaser info, this site came up and here I am.

Life is too short to hunt with an ugly dog.

Re: NY newbie
Thanks for the warm welcome.
I've learned a lot from this sight already.
I hope to add a blaser to my stable very soon.
I just wish blaser didn't stop producing their Tactical models.
An order for a left hand R8 tactical would've be made last year.
I can Dream.

Welcome and don't worry Blaser will eventually bring out another tactical model, everyone does eventually because they sell.
I'm soft and I don't care.

Re: NY newbie
The problem is when will they make them ?
In the meantime, I'm gonna get a LRS2 or Tactical model.
With Either of those models I can get a left hand bolt head.
Since I'll be shooting it off the bench most of the time, It won't be an issue using the bolt with my right hand.
I'll need to get an left hand R8 for hunting though.

Re: NY newbie
That's one thing I liked about the off road stock, it's was ambitious from the start just swap bolts around for either right handed or abnormal shooters.

Re: NY newbie
Being abinormal, I have no issues with evil right hand rifles, I've learned to accept them.
I prefer rifles with detachable magazines.
The R8 is the closest I'll be able to get to that, though I do think the off road is a good entry level straight pull rifle.

Re: NY newbie
I prefer my hunting rifles to be top loaded but any tactical or LR gun I've had has had magazines.
I'm not really sure why either?

Re: NY newbie
My only two top loading rifles are a Garand and a NY modified fixed magazine M1A1 National match.
All others are Mag fed in one capacity or another now.
I even converted my blind magazine rifles to detachable magazines.
Who know's, maybe I'll sell all my turn bolt rifles and have all pull bolts in the next chapter of my life ?
It all starts with one rifle and I'm on my way.

Re: NY newbie
Tac2 and LRS2 can be converted for left handed shooters. They use the regular R93 bolt housing.I assume you can also order them left handed.shoots100 wrote: ↑Tue Jan 08, 2019 11:36 pm The problem is when will they make them ?

Since getting my blaser I don`t want to buy any more bolt guns especially for hunting.
Wouldn`t mind a nice double rifle though(SxS) and a K95 kipplauf though...
